Is It Friday Already?

I can't believe it's already Friday, where has the week gone?

My week just seemed to fly by...

I need to think about making some Easter decorations.

I have already started to put together some  "Easter Care Packages" for my

two kids that are off at College.

Stuffing the boxes full of little goodies complete with Easter grass and eggs! 

It will be a tiny Easter egg hunt in a box!

If I have time I might make some more days of the week dishtowels.  

If I do I will share them with you.

I  made this one in very soft colors so it would look faded and vintage.

I think it turned out really nice.  The soft colors and flowers remind 

me of Heidi's beautiful enamelware collection.

I also have this urge to knit and crochet again after viewing so many lovely blogs.

I have to stick with indoor activities, because the cold still has it's icy

grip on us.  

Oh to have more days in the weekend!!!

Spring Garden Dreams...

I am summer dreaming of my garden.

I woke up to another 3 inches of new snow this morning!

It's beautiful, but I'm eager to start gardening again. 

I am ready to  dig my hands back into the soil.

Hopefully the all the perennials will have made it

through the long cold winter.

Sometimes they freeze out and I have to purchase new

ones.  

Columbines like those pictured below are very hardy here and the comfrey above is even more hardy!  These plants can be cut down halfway through the season for a second bloom.

They grow like weeds once the ground is warm enough!

I'm eager for the riot of color to appear!!!

Only another month to go!!!

 I can't wait!  

I have started dahlias and gladiola's in boxes in the house.

It's a sneak attack!!

Watercolor For Charity & Monday Cheer!

Hope you all had a great weekend

I spent mine drawing and painting.

I made this miniature watercolor this weekend for a charity event. 

I ended up with three paintings

by the end of the day.

This is my "Mackie" Doll

He is from Germany and he is a hedgehog.

I think he is really cute.

My Uncle Markus or as I called him Onkel Markus

looked a lot like my Mackie Doll.

His nickname was Mackie.

My uncle had curly hair and he was like a pied piper to kids.

He loved to tease!!!

Such a fun Uncle!!!

  

Here is the back of an envelope that I made my daughter.

I added a little poem to make it 

more fun for her.

I love writing letters.  My kids love receiving these special envelopes.

Below is a nice Moon Glass goblet.  I have started a nice little collection

of this type of glassware.

They made a complete line of dinnerware in this pattern.

It's kind of fun, because it fits to almost anything!

I must keep this short, I had a long weekend and it's getting late

so I need to go to bed and get

my beauty sleep!

Another Random Friday!

I really enjoyed posting last weeks random 

Friday, so I thought I would 

create another one for this week.

The first photo is of a vintage dish I picked

I love the blue colors, it has a rather romantic feel to it.

I love this little lavender sachet/pillow.

I may have to make some more of

these little gems.

They are wonderful around the house and

they make great gifts!

A peek into one of my linen closets...

And....  a close up of a special little tea towel.

I made this pillow when I was about 10 years old. 

This was a kit that came complete with yarn.

I remember picking it because of the frog and 

ladybug.  

Last summer I made a small watercolor painting of a grasshopper.

I found him when I was out on one of my walks so

I took him home and sketched him.  I later set him 

free in my garden.  I'm sure he had a good time 

with my plants.

We had about an inch of new snow two days ago.  Most of its 

gone, hopefully we won't get anymore this weekend!

Here Comes The Sun!!

The sun is slowly making its presence known.

Kinnikinnick Berries are

popping back out of the snow.

These berries have hung on all winter and will soon

drop after their new buds force last years fruit to fall.

Many birds have eaten these little berries through the long cold winter.

Even the pines are starting to look like they want 

to shed old growth.

Here are some more kinnikinnick 

plants making their way

out of their frozen winter homes.

Stellar Jay tracks are everywhere around my house.

They seem pretty busy trying to find some of their 

old food caches.

Moose have visited and broken off the tops of trees.

These trees will sprout more branches this summer.

This little cabin has such a sweet little sign. 

This sign was owned by a  lady who lived along the river, she sold her berries 

on a honor system.

I remember seeing this sign when I was a little girl.

She also sold poppies for a small price.

There is also a cook tent nearby.  

Here is a peek inside.  Kind of cute, complete with a little stove.

I can't wait for summer!

Soon shorebirds will be arriving in great numbers 

on the Homer shores. (Over 100 miles away)

We have a small species that spends its summers on the lake shore.

Their numbers are small, but it's exciting to see a pair nesting

along the shoreline.

Can't wait!

Teddy Bear Love!

Teddy bears are such wonderful cuddly toys.

My children always had one in bed with them

every night to keep them 

company.

My son had a favorite bear named

 "Noodle"  

I'll never forget the first time my

son saw that bear...

It was instant love!

This is a cute little bear that  is dressed in a little knitted jacket and

hat that my mother knitted for him.

Here is a photo of my daughters favorite bear, his name is "Fritzy"

This bear was her best friend 

at night just like Noodle was my sons best friend.

Bears are such wonderful toys.  Each one has

a personality of its own.  Each one has a different face just urging you to make 

them yours.

Be they old or new there is probably one out there for you!!

They have glitter on them so they were a easy sale!!!

I had to share this photo with you.  This is one of my favorite photos of my daughter.

I took this photo of her when we were in Venice.  She was 16 when we went on our Mother/Daughter trip to Europe.

I love the shape of her dress and the red bag.

These mushrooms are so beautiful and I take endless photos of them in the fall.

Here is a photo of one of my favorite cups.  My Aunt gave me this cup when I was

about seven years old for my hope chest.  It's a German set complete with a plate for cake.

I think she knew I liked polka dots!!!  

I stopped at my Moms house the other day and took a picture of a little set of dishes that she had sitting on a tray.  Really cute little set of mismatched things that really go together well.

Don't you think these two are a funny little pair!
